When creating assets on NFT.io, there are various different file types to choose from for the asset media.
To help you choose, here is a breakdown of the supported file types:

Image | JPG / JPEG | Lightweight image file, loads fast, usually lower quality. | Large collections; good when you want to save storage space and don’t mind losing quality. |
Image | PNG | Heavyweight image file, high-quality, loads slower than jpeg. Supports transparency. | Best image quality / when transparency is needed. |
Image / Animation | WEBP | Best of both worlds. High-quality lightweight image /animation file that supports transparency. |
High-quality image / animation. The only disadvantage is that it is less used and not widely supported. |
Animation | GIF | Supports transparency and basic animation. Lightweight low-quality animation. | Low quality animations / when transparency is needed in an animation. |
3D Object | GLB | A 3D object that may contain information about 3D scenes, models, lighting, materials, node hierarchy, and animations. | 3D objects |
